Rejuvenate Your Beautiful Smile
If you have teeth that have become damaged or decayed, it is important to restore their strength, structure, and function to improve your oral health and boost your confidence. The durable, tooth-shaped dental crowns we offer at our Virginia Beach practice are designed specifically for your smile in order to provide the most accurate results. These ceramic restorations completely cover a tooth or dental implant, and look, feel, and function like natural teeth. If you are interested in learning more about dental crowns or would like to schedule a consultation, please contact us today.
During your first consultation at the Smile Center, we will establish your candidacy for dental crowns. Generally, dental crowns:
- Protect weak teeth from breaking
- Restore previously broken or severely worn teeth
- Cover a tooth with too many fillings
- Hold a dental bridge in place
- Cover severe discoloration or misshapenness
- Restore a dental implant
Understanding the Procedure
Traditionally, a mold is taken of your mouth and sent to a dental laboratory, where it takes weeks to create your new teeth. Using state-of-the-art CEREC® technology, we can produce and place your restoration in just one office visit. First, we will take incredibly precise 3-D images of your prepared teeth. These images will be used to digitally design your restoration. After 15 minutes in the milling machine, where your artificial teeth are cut from a single block of porcelain, your dental crowns will be ready to be tried in.
Dr. Parr and Dr. Frey is committed to making your smile look its best. We are always focused on the aesthetic benefits of your treatment and strive to make your new smile enhance your facial features and give you an all-inclusive smile lift. When you look in the mirror and see a more attractive smile, you can enjoy a boost in your confidence as well. Improved self-esteem will help you get ahead in your personal, social, and professional life.
Oral Health Benefits
At the Smile Center, we use the highest quality dental crowns to restore your smile. These porcelain restorations are made of the strongest, longest-lasting material to ensure that your smile stays healthy for the rest of your life. Strengthening your teeth with dental crowns will help improve your ability to chew, eat, and speak normally, while reducing your risk for periodontal disease and further tooth damage.
Caring for Your Crowns
Once your new smile is in place, it is important to establish good hygiene habits in order to maintain it. Brushing and flossing at least twice a day is as essential to maintaining your crowns as it is with natural teeth. Routine checkups to our Virginia Beach office help our dentists assess the condition of your dental crowns as well as your overall oral health.
Despite the incredible strength of crowns, it is important to be aware of certain habits that may reduce their lifespan. It is recommended that you avoid chewing on ice or other hard objects such as pen caps or your fingernails. Teeth grinding and clenching can also significantly affect your crowns, but nighttime mouth guards may help eliminate excessive wear.
